Your thoughts relative to administering an exam to an adult with ADHD will be appreciated. Now prescribed Concerta, a long-acting (10-12 hour) medication.END..... IP: Logged |

I'd like to chime in here (big suprise eh?). My wife is a sufferer of ADHD, and for those that think the illness is fictitious, they need only spend a day with my wife (watch it Ted!)Having tested scores of sufferers, I can only say that the individual relys on the fast decaying short term memory too much, and consequently will have a hard time following instructions. ADHD causes individuals with the disorder to have to concentrate with greater effort to accomplish tasks that take more than a few moments. Plan on ADHD sufferers, who no matter how intelligent they are, to botch stim test instructions, show to the test 10 minutes late, and generally appear impatient during lulls. They honestly are not trying to annoy (most days), they just have a very real nuerological condition, easily seen on PET and FMRI scans. Try not to kill them.

My apologies to all as I failed to mention this individual is a college student. In my opinion this takes out some of the concerns generally associated with this syndrome. END..... IP: Logged |
